Casita Iris is one of three modern Zen-design studio apartments. They are located inside Casa Maiz, in the quiet Chula Vista neighborhood between Ajijic and Chapala.

Iris offers an impressive large bathroom with a walk- in closet. The queen-size bed has big pillows, and ultra-soft bed linens. Custom-built cabinetry is featured in the kitchen, bathroom and closet. The private patio has flowers and herbs with outdoor seating and features a Mexican table with tilework designed and hand-built by local artists.

Enjoy the modern, tranquil environments of IRIS and the other guest quarters, ROSA, ROMERO and PAPYRUS. They are close to walking paths, transportation, restaurants, bazaars, the town plaza, the Malecon boardwalk along the lake, and much more.

The building blends modern minimalism with Zen. The goal to bring outdoors to the indoors includes an Aztec-inspired brick design in the patio garden, and a water feature in the building’s main entry with a Zen-like garden opening to the sky.

To access the apartment from the main street entry, walk through the outdoor Zen garden and past a modern “Salon” common area where you can relax with the sound of running water in the background and handmade artisan chairs and art. From the common area, you then enter your apartment from a skylight filled corridor with custom artwork including hand painted murals.

The apartment door opens to a private garden. Every apartment gets its name from a flower or plant in their garden so go ahead and pick some fresh “Romero” or “Rosemary” from your garden and add it to a meal.

With pots and pans and ample kitchen products, it’s easy to make yourself a cup of coffee, or mix your favorite drink in the blender. Relax outdoors under the tree in the patio or nestle in the comfort of your bed.

Other features include purified water throughout, two custom-made closets with built-in reading lights, a sun-filled bathroom with bath products, fluffy towels and glass doors opening to the garden.
